Mike Marshall

Mike was born in Cambridge in 1962 and was educated at Kings Gloucester where he began writing classical pieces from an early age, including a symphony and violin concerto. At 14 he won the Ivor Gurney composition prize and after leaving school he studied with Ruth Stewart a former composition pupil of Olivier Messiaen and tutor at the Guildhall School.

In the eighties Mike became a studio session player/arranger and worked with many top session musicians and artists around the world, including Jon Anderson (Yes/Vangelis) and as musical director to Don Black MBE.

From the early nineties he began writing scores for TV and film documentaries including many series for the BBC.
